KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
St. Patrick's Basilica Ottawa Council 485
In 2021, the Knights of Columbus, led by the dedicated members of Council 485, embarked on a heartwarming mission to support a family in need. They spearheaded a remarkable fundraising effort, raising over $60,000 to help reunite a mother and her young daughter, who had been separated from the rest of their family due to medical necessity.
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
Helen Keller
The story begins with a mother and her three-year-old daughter, Marie-Ange, who had to be apart from their family for much of the child’s early years. The daughter required specialized nursing care, which meant that the mother had to leave their family home to ensure her daughter received the around-the-clock care she needed. This separation was hard on the entire family, including the father and their eight other children, who longed to have their loved ones together under one roof.
To address this pressing need, the Knights of Columbus initiated a campaign to fund a modest addition to the family’s home. This addition would provide the temperature stability and space necessary for the nursing staff to deliver continuous care to Marie-Ange. More importantly, it would allow the mother to return home and be with her husband and children once again.
The campaign aimed to bring the family back together, fulfilling the heartfelt desire of the father and siblings to be reunited with their mother and little sister. With the support of compassionate donors and the power of community, this building project was set to make this reunion a reality.

If this story touches your heart, we invite you to share it with your friends and associates. Your influence and network are crucial to helping this campaign succeed and ensuring that this family can finally be together once more.
